Creating a secret garden feel

We recently had the pleasure of working on this very unique project.

The client wanted a garden that inspired exploration and discovery. The brief was to create a bit of mystery. A garden where you couldn’t glance out from the house and see everything at once. A space you had to wander through to experience fully.

Here’s how we brought that vision to life:
⚒️ Divided the garden into distinct areas using hand built (on site!) larch screens and planted areas
⚒️ Extended the patio to provide a more functional and spacious outdoor living area using black limestone and @chelmervalley Old English clay paving for a country garden feel
⚒️ Added a new Corten Steel Bowl for both aesthetics and to attract wildlife
⚒️ Removed a previously lawned area in favour of some planting to add colour, texture and contrast
⚒️ Worked closely with the client to select plants they loved, while recommending varieties that would thrive in the garden’s conditions
⚒️ Introduced new multi-stem trees to help separate the different areas of the garden and provide another feature for the client to enjoy
⚒️ Installed up-lights for trees and down-lights on the screens to add a magical evening ambiance

The result? A space that’s functional, serene and intriguing, where each step offers something new to discover, despite not having an enormous plot.
